Open Call for Proposals for Joint Workshops
Objectives
The aim of Novo Nordisk-Chinese Academy of Sciences Research Foundation (NN-CAS Foundation) is to fund or co-fund activities of common interest within the fields of Biopharmaceuticals & Diabetes including related disciplines and technologies such as protein chemistry, immunology, inflammation, endocrinology, diabetes, pharmacology and drug delivery.
Call for proposals
NN-CAS Foundation invites relevant partners to submit applications for co-funding of Workshops intended to explore the basis for collaborations between scientists from CAS and from NN R&D as well as scientists from Danish and Scandinavian universities or public research institutions as appropriate. Applications may be submitted anytime and should be forwarded in one e-mail to Ms. WANG Dongyao at dywang@cashq.ac.cn, Professor Wang Ming-Wei at wangmw@mail.shcnc.ac.cn, and Dr. WANG Baoping at baop@novonordisk.com.
Field: Protein Sciences and Technologies relating to Human Diseases.
Proposed projects may include, but not be limited to, proteins and peptides as disease markers, drug targets, transcription factors, mediators, etc. applicable to the understanding of pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, prevention or prognosis of human diseases. Proposals to develop relevant technologies, methods and experimental approaches that may facilitate the medical utility of such proteins or peptides are also encouraged.
Purpose of the NN-CAS Workshop
The purpose of the Workshop should be one or more of the following:
- Exchange information about activities and plans within the Field;
- Identify partners that may collaborate on projects and fellowships (including PhD fellowships) within the Field;
- Identify partners that may submit applications for funding or co-funding to NN-CAS Foundation (next deadline 30 October 2011, for further information visit www.cas.ac.cn);
- Identify partners that may submit applications to any source of funding or co-funding including the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research;
- Identify projects or fellowships that may be associated with the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research.
Funding of the Workshop
NN-CAS Foundation may support of a NN-CAS Workshop up to 120,000 CNY or a maximum of 50% of the total costs including travel expenses, whichever is lesser.
Who can apply?
Any scientists with a PhD degree (or equivalent) presently employed by CAS (applicants must hold associate professorship or above) or NN may apply. Applications should preferably be jointly submitted by a scientist from CAS and one from NN R&D.
Applications
Applications must be submitted on an application form that can be downloaded at Download Application Form
Each application must provide:
- Title and field of the Workshop (max half a page)
- The purpose and expected outcome of the Workshop.
- A statement on how the parties have agreed to handle IPR or confidential information (if relevant).
- If applicable, co-funding, in cash or in kind, by any of the parties or other funding agencies, must be clearly specified as this may be considered a positive selection criterion.
